Why Rebel against the Western Art World?
The Western Art World is too busy focusing on money and its own politics than to consider the real reasons why Artists today are creating their work. Instead, archaic labels like pop, surrealism, conceptualism and modernism are hastily attached to our work without consideration to our origins, sources, and experiences in relation to our changing world.
Although Artists respect and understand the importance of past labels and movements in definition of THEIR evolution, we, the Artist have decided to reject them all and their derivative “isms”, because it keeps us from the natural process of OUR evolution.
The New Inspirational Movement
Imagine for a moment that there is no such thing as the Art World. You create something with your hands. What do you call it and why did you do it?
The New Inspirational Movement encourages Artists not to “go outside the box” for inspiration, but instead to go inside OUR box, to find OUR original meaning in order to free OURSELVES from the influence of pop culture and the expectations of the Western Art World.
The Importance of Self Definition
The goal of NIM is empowerment through self definition. This definition of the self helps Artists find their own paths to becoming Artists and to engage in thoughtful conversations with other Artists, journalists, art critics, art historians, and the global public.
